Fentanyl is a potent synthetic phenylpiperidine-derivative opioid analgesic. Under the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) classification system, it is indexed under N02AB03.<\/p>\n

Chemically designated as N<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)-N<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>-phenylpropanamide, fentanyl is a lipophilic compound highly suited to transdermal delivery. In United Kingdom clinical practice, Fentanyl Aurobindo 75 micrograms\/hour is presented as a transdermal patch designed to release 75 micrograms of fentanyl per hour continuously over a 72-hour period. It is contraindicated in acute or post-operative pain.<\/p>\n
